This charming home, built in the 1880’s, has had just three owners in its entire history. As an admirer of historic homes, re imagining the interior was truly rewarding.
Improvements in 2025 included the addition of an exceptional European inspired kitchen, a cozy family room with dry bar, and re furnishing of the living room including a marble fireplace. The intention was to create a space that feels luxurious, comfortable and highly functional, all within a smaller footprint.

I worked closely with the Bayhead, New Jersey homeowners to bring this vision to life one decision at a time, each one intentional and built to last. This remodel did not add square footage but made better use of the existing space. It also elevated each space through the use of textiles, stone, and custom lighting. Dated tiles were replaced with a clear maple hardwood throughout. First the kitchen. Catering to the cook and the guests alike, the 60″ La Cornue and its custom brass hood are the focal points. Ocean Storm marble slabs were expertly crafted into not only counters, but backsplash and sink as well.
In contrast to the cool tones of the marble, antique brass pulls and cremone bolts were used throughout. Also serving as a warm contrast are the custom oak floor to ceiling cabinets flanking the window and two beams flanking the hood.
Under the window is a cozy banquette adorned with pillows. The oak work table takes its inspiration from gilded age kitchens of the past. Finally, an iron and rock crystal chandelier over the dining area bring a touch of vintage elegance to family gatherings.
After a special meal, guests can move onto the family room for cocktails and conversation. Raffia adorns the walls for a rich backdrop to the the crisp blue and white upholstery. White quartzite serves as the bar top.
As a home that is used year round, the living room fireplace is the perfect feature for chilly off season nights. Blue Roma marble is polished to perfection as a surround and hearth. The generously scaled upholstery is perfect for watching a movie, reading or chatting.
Whether the occasion is July or November this home is ready for guests for years to come while nodding to its past.
